Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and the Restoring Honor rally….YUCK!

Posted: August 25, 2010 in Political Commentary, The Blog!

This Saturday, at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, 47 years to the date of Martin Luther Kings famous and legendary “I Have a Dream Speech” , Glenn Beck will be hosting a rally entitled “Restoring Honor” that will be attended by Sarah Palin and other Tea Party favorites. Martin Luther King is a legend, icon and champion on civil rights, a man who dedicated his life not only to African American civil rights, but civil rights for all Americans. Martin Luther King promoted unity between all races. Glenn Beck, were do I begin. Beck has truly gone of the deep end. Anyone…ANYONE who takes him serious is without question disconnected with what is really going on in our country. Glenn Beck spews hatred and lies. Glenn Beck tries to stir up his “base” of older, white, religious people who unfortunately for the most part, don’t know any better. Beck caters towards the intolerance of his base and builds up their prejudice even more. A self proclaimed Mormon, Beck has showed his “allegiance” to his religion, but everything that comes out of his mouth is very un-Christ like. If there was a Jesus and he came back to 2010 America, I find it very hard to believe that he would turn on fox news and take what those people say as legit. People like Beck, members of the extreme right, I think do a very sad thing. They make people who are more realistic and moderate with their religious views, look very bad. The problem is that people like Beck, Sarah Palin and others have such a loud voice that they can easily brainwash people into believing whatever they say. They can talk about freedom all they want, but all they preach is intolerance, bigotry and hatred for people that think different from what they do. Beck can scream about health care reform (which finally gives people a chance to afford insurance), financial reform (which finally makes the banks accountable), the Islamic community center (which is not a mosque or terrorist group), gun control (sorry if people wanna regulated lethal weapons)….Beck gets people who could benefits with all of these issues, and warps their mind into thinking that it won’t. On the same day Beck plans his little rally, Al Sharpton, the National Action Network is teaming up with the likes of progressive talk and tv show ad, Ed Shultz, and will be marching in tribute to Martin Luther Kings speech. I don’t know about you, but I think it is pretty easy to see where Martin Luther King would be on that day if he were alive today.
