Republications repealing the 14th Amendments?!WTF

For the longest time, republications have held the constitution in their hands and have claimed that they are the party who holds the constitution near and dear to their hearts. The truth however, is that it is the farthest from the truth. It seems these days that the only amendment that they stick too is the 2ND amendment, and we all know they love their guns. Nothing can follow a great Sunday church service like killing innocent deer looking for some cool cold water in a beautiful spring brook. With the recent uproar over the Arizona “show me your papers” law, republications want to repeal and rid the constitution that they love of the 14th Amendment. What is the 14th Amendment you ask…well here it is for yourself.

Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

So basically it states that if you are born in the US, you are a natural born citizen. What republications want to do is find anyone who has one parent who isn’t a legal citizen and strip the child of their citizenship even if they themselves have been born in the country and living here all their lives. This “repeal” is just another way to discriminate against people of color. What if you are a 25 year old mexican, his father was born in Mexico and wasn’t legal but his mother has been here all her life. Sorry kid, but you are “outta here!”. It doesn’t matter that the kid has never been to Mexico, that he has lived in the US all his life and can’t even speak spanish. Republication and conservatives in general have the attitude of “the good ol’ days”. Maybe the good old days were good for them, the older white generation. Ask an african american if they want to go back to the good ol’ days were they have to sit in the back of the bus and drink from a separate water fountain. Ask an older woman if she would like to back to working only in the kitchen and not being able to vote. The good ol’ days aren’t so good. Beaver Clever and May Berry is not the reality for must people. The republications have the car permanently in reverse and can’t look forward. This country was built on immigrants and most people seem to forget this. I support legal immigration, a path to citizenship that gives everyone a chance to make it in this great country that I believe still can work it’s way through the prejudices that attack it on a daily basis. Should there be punishment for people who come here illegally? Of course, they are breaking the law. What people need to realize is that the majority of the people coming here illegally aren’t “drug smugglers’ but instead are people who are looking for work so they can provide for their families. I would punish those people coming here illegal, however I would go after the people who are giving them the jobs just as hard or even harder. I think the people handing the drugs out, the drugs in this case meaning jobs, are more to blame than the people who need the work. Republications, turn the car in drive, take your blinders off and get with the damn times already.

    • yes, when I haven’t blogged in awhile I tend to post multiple blogs without proof reading first. Obviously you did read it but can’t come back with a defense of the conservatives so had to go after the spelling of “too”….thanks 🙂
