Supreme Court lifts local gun bans, let the wild roam free!

This past week the Supreme Court voted on a local gun law in Chicago that completely strips all regulation from buying and holding a gun down to the bare minimum. Just to mention once example, the court decided to vote down a law that would require a trigger lock to be placed on handguns and other guns because it violates the 2nd amendment. This is something that I just don’t get. Let’s take a look at the 2nd amendment.

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”

Ok, lets break this down….

1. A well regulated Militia…a well regulated militia meaning a group trained to use these weapons (Military)…

2. Being Necessary to the security of a free state: Meaning that they (the military or Militia) should use them for the purpose of securing the state from outlanders who would try to invade.

3. The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed: This is were it gets complicated. The big time right wing conservatives see this as they can just walk around with a loaded gun anytime they want, with whatever gun they want and if anyone tries to stop them it is socialism and a violation of the the 2nd Amendment.

In my opinion, I am very against guns. I think the military or policeman should be the only ones carrying guns, hence a well regulated militia. However, I know that the world has changed and their needs to be a compromise. I don’t like hunting, but in the interest of fairness, i’d be willing to compromise and let people hunt if and only if what they eat they consume as food. I eat meat, so I would have to be fair and compromise on that end, however , the idea of “Trophy Hunting” is absurd. Hunting for the sake of killing an innocent animal for the fun of it or to hang it up on your wall? No thanks, that is insane and anyone who would do that should be prosecuted and charged with a serious crime. I also think that one handgun per adult in a house should be allowed for protection only. The person should apply and have a serious background check done. If the person wants to take it out and use it at a shooting range or something similar, no problem, just have a required permit. These are just a few ideas I have thought about, they could be expanded and added too, I just think the idea of letting people walk around with any random gun without any regulation is insane, and in a country with one of the highest handgun death rates, deregulation is the last thing we need.
