Rand Paul loves BP & My basic fix of the Oil Problem

Posted: May 22, 2010 in Political Commentary, The Blog!

So it looks like Rand Paul is trying to deflect from questions regarding his objection of title 2 of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the part about business owners being forced not to be racists and not allowing them to discriminate because of color or gender. This time he is calling President Obama “Un-American” because of the way the President is pointing fingers at BP for the recent horrific oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Paul believes that BP shouldn’t be getting all of the negative press that they are receiving and that President Obama should back off. Is he serious? If he want’s to criticize Obama over the oil spill than fine, it is a tricky situation and I actually think that President Obama needs to take a stronger stance on this issue because of the catastrophic repercussions that we are dealing with and will be having to deal with in the future. I, quite frankly, don’t think President Obama is being hard enough. We need to put unlimited liability on BP and every other oil company involved and President Obama has to make it an issue with the Climate Bill that we heavily regulate oil drilling that eventually takes us off it completely. Right now we are killing our environment while raising prices at the pump, spending all of this money on oil and in turn giving it to people over sea’s who use that same money against us. Our dependency on oil and foreign oil is like a heavily addicted nicotine addict, unfortunately getting off of this habit won’t be easy. We can’t just go cold turkey, however like a smoker would quit smoking, we can wean off oil. We need to limit the drilling so that it isn’t done in an area were an accident would destroy the area and effect us like the recent Gulf spill, also it must be regulated and watched by the government or by a government sponsored company to over see the oil company in action. In the mean time we must invest time and money into alternate forms of energy whether it be by wind, solar, rain etc. Over time as other sources of energy become available to us, we can start to lessen our demand on oil. Rand Paul is pointing fingers at Obama, who at least knows we need to regulate it but still drill for now, he needs to look himself in the mirror and ask himself and his party about this situation. Instead of pointing fingers are the president maybe he should stop standing on the side of big oil, the big oil companies who got us in this mess to begin with. Stop making excuses for big oil companies and use that energy towards creating more environmentally sound sources of energy than we can all benefit from.
