The Kentucky Derby!

Posted: May 1, 2010 in Sports Rants!, The Blog!

I guess you can say I am a casual horse racing fan. I get into from May and through the summer months during the epic Triple Crown. Though I live in Orlando, Florida now, I spent my whole life growing up on Long Island about a half hour outside of Belmont were horse racing is huge, so I guess you can say I always had someone around who was talking about it. The rest of the year I keep in touch from time to time so I don’t feel to out of the loop but nothing can compare to the big 3 races. This year the Derby favorite is out, Eskendereya who had people anxious pulled out last week with a swollen leg iopening the field up a bit. However, the two current favorites are with out a doubt Lookin at Lucky, who drew the rail and Sidney’s Candy who drew the outside post. Lookin at Lady is running at 3-1 odds and Sidney’s Candy at 5-1, however my sleeper pick could be the only filly in the race of 20, Devil May Care. Maybe it’s a soft spot I have for underdogs, which fillys typically are in the races against other males. It should be an interesting and fun race like they always are, the horses are beautiful and the races are competitive. I don’t know were you will be tomorrow at 4pm, but i’ll be watching the Derby.
