The Week in Politics: 4/26/10- Immigration, Financial Reform & Birthers!

Posted: April 26, 2010 in Political Commentary, The Blog!

Wow, the last few days have been pretty heated on the political side. Let’s tackle this Arizona Immigration Law that was signed last week. As we call know this law which gives cops who have “reasonable suspicion” to literally go up to people without a warrant and if they don’t have ALL of their personal documents to prove they are in the country legally they will be arrested on the spot. Something like this just opens the doors completely open for racially profiling and really sets back our country in a major way. I am all for immigration reform and think that it needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. I understand politics is politics, and since President Obama and his administration have passed Health care, which is way left of the republications, and now that we are on the financial reform kick he has to work on some issues that are more to the center. Immigration will be a hassle because the democrats and republication are so far a part from one another even more than they usually are. I would just take some of the troops that we will be pulling put of Iraq and place them near the borders of Mexico. In doing this I would also work together with the Mexican government in order to make a true pact with them holding people who cross the borders responsibly for their own actions in a fair way. In addition, I would have a temporary visa that gives illegals a set time (possibly one year?) for them to get a job, learn the English language to a passable extent etc. within that time were than they will be given citizenship. Now, in saying this we can tinker with that all we want, but by forcing people to “show me you papers” is right out of Nazi Germany in the 30’s and 40’s. It is an outrage and just awful, however I was pleasantly surprised by an article I read today. Apparently an Arizona church has refused to go along with the Arizona law because it goes against the theories in the bible. Everyone should know my thoughts on religion at this point, so to say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. (link to the article )

Apparently a few hours ago democrats fell one vote short in the senate in order to get the financial reform bill up for debate. Now what happens? Well, what happens now is that they will go back to the drawing board and nit pick with the bill in order to make it “passable” for republication until they can get it passed. Pretty much the plan is to get this bill passed by Memorial Day in time for summer so the democrats can add the Financial Reform to the Health Reform that they have passed in order to build up their resume for the November elections. What more can you say? Republications are the party of no and will continue to say no to anything that President Obama says.

I’ll make this short and sweet. President Obama was born in Hawaii. Not Kenya, Indonesia or any were else. He has a birth certificate and ALL proper paper. Now go away.
